This page was put up back in the good ol’ days when former President Pervez Musharraf initiated temporary Emergency Rule in Pakistan in November 2007. During this period, the media, which won its freedom only thanks to Musharraf, went wild and began a hate campaign against Musharraf. GEO, in particular, crossed all limits and, as a result, a number of channels were temporarily suspended in Pakistan.
GEO still continues its Musharrafphobia campaign. Its leading anchor, the bigot Hamid Mir, revealed his personal hate and contempt towards Musharraf to one of this blogs regular commentator, Sajjad Riaz, in an email as follows:

Right here Hamid Mir has exposed the fact that he is by no means balanced and fair in his analysis and programmes. He has a personal grudge against Musharraf.
Not only that, he proves that he is a liar. Geo’s license can be seen on the PEMRA website. If GEO had no license, then how did some members of the police manage to trash their office in Islamabad in 2007? Oh my, GEO was running an office in Islamabad without a license? 
His second lie is the claim that Musharraf attempted to “bribe” him. Instead, it is more reasonable that Mir is angry because Musharraf did not bribe him!
Just look at the way this guy writes…like a typical uneducated individual lacking all nuance and possessing a low IQ.
Police in Pakistan has always been corrupt and they have launched such attacks at all times, be it during the Bhutto and Nawaz regimes and all other regimes. Yes, there is a serious problem with our police. This is nothing new. But to blame Musharraf for it and to convey the impression as if he personally ordered the attack, rolled up his sleeves, designed the attack plan and oversaw its execution is to be extremely deceptive and dishonest. To correct Mir, some members of the police acted on their own authority without receiving any “orders” from members of the government, let alone from Musharraf.
As for Musharraf “treated us like animals“, then that is another example of gross disinformation and propaganda. Granted, things were not perfect, but let’s face it: Pakistan saw unprecedented freedom of expression under Musharraf. In a short span of time dozens and dozens of private channels opened up, often openly criticising Musharraf, with generally no action taken against them by the Musharraf government. This was unimaginable under the previous Nawaz and Bhutto regimes. Far from treating the likes of Mir “like animals”, the Musharraf era brought about unprecedented freedom within Pakistan.
Far from ever “exposing” Musharraf, Mir successfully managed to expose himself as an incoherent bigot in his above email rantings.
Of course, GEO’s anti-Musharraf propaganda campaign continues unabated. This destroys their claim of being balanced. They have proven to be only as “fair and balanced” as Fox News.

GEO TV has set up a blog here where you can submit your supportive (and unsupportive/critical?) comments.
With very, very few exceptions, the negative comments, even if highly polite and decent, are not approved by the moderators of the GEO blog. I have been sent comments by some surfers which were written very politely and submitted to the GEO blog a long time ago which have yet to appear since they have been (presumably) rejected.
GEO boasts a lot about its ‘fair’ and ‘balanced’ coverage. But do not be fooled by their rhetoric. They do have an agenda. GEO is only interested in displaying opinions they agree with, whilst largely ignoring the opposing viewpoints. In this way GEO gives a very one sided presentation. Note also GEO’s clear cut refusal recently to cover the pro-Musharraf rally in Toronto. When approached and requested to give some coverage, GEO officials said that they are ordered only to cover anti-Musharraf rallies. So much for GEO’s claim of being ‘truthful’.
In light of this, I decided to allow people to post their critical comments and reservations concerning GEO’s overly biased, unfair and unnecessarily confrontational coverage of events from day one of the emergency.
Feel free to send your comments here and just remember not to be insultive and abusive. We have to maintain a higher character than the one displayed by GEO and the anti-Musharraf forces.

ISLAMABAD: Former Pakistan prime minister Nawaz Sharif has met al-Qaida chief Osama bin Laden five times, says a former official of Pakistan’s Inter
Services Intelligence (ISI), a claim hotly denied by Sharif’s Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
Speaking in ARY news programme “Eleventh Hour”, the former ISI official and now chairman Defence of Human Rights organisation Khalid Khwaja claimed he had arranged meetings between bin Laden and Nawaz Sharif on bin Laden’s request and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief had held five meetings with the al-Qaida chief so far.
“I challenge the deniers of such meetings and can present solid evidences in this respect,” Khwaja was quoted as saying by ARY News on Wednesday.
He said hopefully Nawaz Sharif would not “tell a lie” in this regard.
He said he had met the al-Qaida chief more than a hundred times “but not after the 9/11 incident”.
However, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has termed the claims of the head of Defence of Human Rights organisation as baseless.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has said that al-Qaida chief Osama bin Laden is dead, but has sought more international aid to expand
military operations against Taliban, in areas where Americans believe he may be hiding.
Asserting that his government was fighting the militants with determination, Zardari said these efforts were hampered by what he called lack of resources.
In an interview to BBC to mark his first year in office as President, Zardari’s main emphasis was on Pakistan’s ailing economy and to make a pitch for much more enhanced assistance from the West.
“If the world’s armies and the world’s budgets cannot look after (the Afghan) side of the border, give me more time and give me the resources that I need and we will deliver,” he said.
He was replying to questions when Pakistan would act against Taliban militants based on its soil who carried out cross-border attacks against foreign troops in Afghanistan.
On Osama, Pakistan President, however, did not put forward any evidence or details in support of his claim that world’s most wanted terrorist was no longer alive. Even earlier Zardari had put forward the same claim, which was not accepted by Washington.
His remarks on Osama being dead run contrary to American belief that al-Qaida chief is alive and is hiding in Pakistan’s restive tribal areas bordering Afghanistan. Zardari claims Osama bin Laden is dead PTI 10 September 2009, 12:34pm IST.

Reading the link by ehsanali , it became so clear that Nawaz Sharif, at least, involved in the bribery in the democracy, as confirmed by the court. And I am 100% sure most of our journalist have the knowledge about it. Including the Hamid Mir, Ansar Abbasi Irfan Siddiqui. But they never spoke a word about it. I haven’t heard any discussion about it or the case on any channel. This is a 100% proof that all these journalists and so called intellectuals are Munafiqs and they have no interest in democracy. They are dishonest. And sadly present time of Pakistan is in the hands of these people. The fate of Pakistan is obvious unless and until these sort of people manipulate the fate of Pakistan.

May it be GEO or Hamid Mir, are one and the same thing. Both are biased and rhetoric about Musharraf. The Jang group and Hamid Mir and few other alikes are not honest and trying befooling the nation as they have their personal vendetta and do not have the capacity to face criticism on their foul plays. The Jang group being one of the leading channels wants the rulers of its choice and its owners have become greedy and think they are the only well wishers of Pakistan. Musharraf is not the type like goofy Nawaz or their favourites. Musharraf has the courage, vision and capacity to deal with such culprits in media or else where and that is why are afraid of Musharraf busy mud slinging all the times. Public is not naive, they knows their malafide intentions and time is approaching when they will find no place to hide their ugly faces. They are spoiling this nation but Allah Almighty knows how and when they should be brought to task. Musharraf is a hard nut to crack and nature is helping him despite their all abortive attempts to malign him.

has anyone ever asked how did hamid mir buy a property in chuk shehzad, every body critisizes musharaf, musharaf was the chief of army staff and the president of pakistan & he also belongs to a well to do family. on the contrary hamid mir was just a cheap journalist who no one knew before he came on geo and all of a sudden he becomes so rich that he owns a farms house. he has been taking money from the indians and other enemy states to destabilize pakistan.
